Ficus microcarpa
Ficus microcarpa
Ficus microcarpa is a species of the Fig tree native to tropical and subtropical climates. When young, the plant appears to be a shrub, but when grown outdoors in Mediterranean climates, it can reach 40 feet high with a 40 foot crown. It also grows well as a shade tree and, for this reason, is frequently used as an indoor tree and in bonsai. This specific piece is designed to be integrated with a manmade wall, representing the interdependence between man and the natural world.
Interesting: Ficus microcarpa is pollinated by wasps. This tree requires a warm climate and a humid atmosphere to thrive making it perfect for the Indian tropical climate. This particular beauty is potted in an imported handmade Chinese ceramic pot.
